I just got this in last week and I really like it. The black leather is nice and looks like real leather, but if it isn't, I'm not really concerned because it looks great in my little home office. I would have went with 5 stars, but I gave it a 4 because the assembling instructions were beyond poor. Just a few small pictures that didn't really clarify or depict the 3 diffrent sized bolts and where they went. The box it came is was fairly large which made it harder for 1 person to carry, but I was able to carry it down stairs with little problems. Ok, I actually slid it down my snow covered staircase and the box held with no product damage! :) I don't recommend trying your luck because when I opened the box I got nervous I may have caused some damage because the chair was just in it and not in a box w/i a box. It did have some bubblewrap too. Okay, so in the box there is a one sheet diagram on how to put the chair together (very bad so take your time and study it before starting), the bottom of the chair (seat and the wood swivel) is already assembled. The arm side padding, the chair back and the ottoman cushion have to be assmebled. The hardest part I had trouble with and took me about 30 mins to figure out was putting on the backrest/cushion. The instructions only show the two bolts going back there, but says nothing about having to screw them into the sides of the backrest/cushion. I looked for holes and didn't see any. It was when I put the 2 screws in the bottom sides of the chair and was holding the backrest that I figured it out because I accidently dropped the backrest while trying to hold it in place and it fell back and caught the screw that was sticking out and tore a small little hole in the side. I was upset but when I looked, it was torn over the place where the screw was suppose to attach to it. Why not precut it out already? I had to feel for the hole on the left side and puncture a small hole in the leather (using the other screw) to be able to see where the screw would go in. After all that frustration, I was finally satisfied because you couldn't really see where I had to tear into the side of the backrest to screw it in. Anyways, I hope this will save someone the trouble if they do buy this chair. It does come w/ the 3 little tools to get the job done. Also be careful to find the little bag of screws before discarding the box bc they were on the bottom below cardboard and bubble wrap. Some of the screws on the instructions are already on the chair so keep that in mind and inventory the bag so you don't think yur missing some. The 2 longest screws are for the Backrest, the 4 medium length screws are for the ottoman, and the 4 shortest screws are for the armrests. I think 2 screws were already on the chair and I just had to losen them off. The ottoman was a breeze to set up after the chair :)
Some pros are:
-the chair does recline all the way back to about a 20 degree angle so you can nap :)
-there are knobs on both sides that allow you to tighten the chair to the upright if you don't want to recline, but not necessary because you do got to put a little pressure to lean back and recline, a little stiff, but good because you won't fall back/recline too fast on accident which may scare the pi$$ out of you :)
-it is wider than your average office chair, so it is roomy and comfortable!!
-it does swivel 360 degrees w/o the entire chair moving/rolling around on the floor (the base is sturdy)
-base has a nice deep/dark cherry wood finsih, which still blends in w/ my espresso legare desk.
-Ottoman is wide enough that you don't have to worry about your legs or feets falling out, and has plenty of padding/cushioning.
-My Homemedics/Shiatsu Massage chair pad fits in their w/ plenty of space for the back and seat cushion & remote on the side.
-good back support. Pretty high. I am only 5'5 but most my height is in my torso, and the back of the chair comes to about my crown, so it is pretty decent in height compared to my cheap office chair.
Cons:
-Like I said the instructions, or tiny pictures I should say, are pretty bad. Assembly should have taken less then 15-30 mins, but because the pictures are so small and vague (looks like my little nephew drew it) you spend most of the time trying to decipher it.
-There should be precut holes on the sides of the back cushion to expose the holes where the screw goes in. Shouldn't have to tear one on each side myself. Before you do this, feel the sides of the back cushion for the hole on each side of it. It is kinda elevated so you will feel it. Oh, the back cushion does have a zipper that isn't visible, so you can unzip the leather. Only thing is that the zippers don't have the tiny tabs to pull on the zipper like our jean zipper does, so use a pair of tweezers or something if you got to remove it.
-For a office chair it does sit kind of low, so keep that in mind. I want to say when sitting it is only about 2 ft off the ground so sitting at my standard height desk is a little tricky because the desk comes to about my chest in this chair. With my old rolling desk chair, my desk comes to my mid-stomach. If your taller it won't be an issue, but like I said I have a longer upper body and it still felt a tad to low to the ground.
But all in all, I would recommend this product. Shipping was fast and cheap, (sent via fedex) I want to say about 3-4 days. Almost didn't buy it only because I try to stick with Amazon as the seller, but packaging was good, and overall design and durability is great. For this price too, it was a good deal compared to the other similar chairs I had seen. If anything goes wrong I'll be sure to update! :)
